What you get from PostHog for Startups
The program offers $50,000 in PostHog credits, valid for 12 months. These credits cover most PostHog products except AI tools like PostHog Desktop, PostHog Slack app, Replay Vision, PostHog AI, and Inbox. Credits cannot be used for a BAA under the Boost plan due to legal risk.
You also receive $12,000 in partner perks, including $1,500 off Incident.io, 50% off Speakeasy for 6 months, and $5,000 in Depot credit. Exclusive founder swag (e.g., laptop stickers, t-shirts) is included, with unique codes sent via email after approval.
How far $50,000 in credits goes
Credits can be used across most PostHog products, including product analytics, session replay, feature flags, experiments, error tracking, surveys, and more. The credits are not transferable and expire after 12 months.
Credits are issued as Stripe credit, applied automatically upon approval. If credits are fully used or expire, you’ll be moved to standard billing. You’ll receive a one-time $500 credit bonus to help transition.
Eligibility criteria
To qualify, your startup must be less than 2 years old, have raised less than $5 million in funding, and use a company email domain (e.g., yourdomain.com). Applications from personal email addresses (e.g., Gmail, Outlook) are rejected automatically. You must have signed up for PostHog on or after January 1, 2023.
Credits are issued only once per founder and once per organization, whichever comes first. If you’ve already received credits for another startup, you cannot claim them again. This rule applies even if you switch to a new company or PostHog organization.
Partner perks included
Once accepted, you’ll receive discount codes for partner benefits via email. These include $1,500 off Incident.io for a teams plan, 50% off Speakeasy for 6 months, and $5,000 in Depot credit for container builds. Partner offers are subject to availability and terms set by each provider.
If you encounter issues redeeming partner discounts, PostHog can help liaise, but ultimate redemption is at the partner’s discretion. Contact details for partners are provided in the welcome email.
What credits cannot cover
Credits cannot be used for AI tools such as PostHog Desktop, PostHog Slack app, Replay Vision, PostHog AI, and Inbox, effective from September 14, 2026. This is due to the unpredictable pricing of token-based models. Teams that joined before this date can still use credits for pre-cutoff usage.
Credits also cannot be used to claim a BAA under the Boost plan due to legal risks. If you need a BAA, contact PostHog to discuss alternative options. Credits can be used for other aspects of the Boost package, such as platform add-ons.
Post-credit transition
After 12 months or when credits are fully used, you’ll be automatically moved to a standard paid plan. You’ll receive an email notification with details. Even after credits expire, you’ll retain access to the startup program’s newsletter, exclusive events, and other perks.
Requests are reviewed manually by the Customer Success team.
Support and onboarding
PostHog offers a monthly newsletter with tips for founders and invites to exclusive events. For one-to-one help, you can purchase a 30-minute onboarding call or explore custom service packages. These services are not covered by credits and must be paid separately.
As a startup program participant, you qualify for normal-priority support and community resources. Dedicated account managers or high-priority support are not included.
