Groundcover lets AI coding agents hand off production investigations

Application observability startup groundcover has given AI coding agents like Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s Codex a way to hand production investigations to its own observability agent. The feature, called agent-to-agent observability, addresses what happens after code ships.
Coding agents can already review and suggest code, but they lack visibility into live production environments. Groundcover’s agent can now take over when the code hits production, running investigations and returning findings to the coding agent. SiliconANGLE reported the launch today.
This follows a broader shift toward AI agents handling operational tasks. When we covered Exabeam’s move toward "agentic security operations" on 1 October, it suggested a model where AI agents act as persistent investigators. NetApp’s reported testing of AI agents for storage operations, covered on 2 October, similarly kept humans in an oversight role.
Groundcover’s approach differs by letting AI agents delegate to a specialized tool rather than expanding their own capabilities. The outcome may depend on whether developers prefer this division of labor or if coding agents will eventually absorb observability functions. For now, the feature is available to groundcover customers.
