Who does not qualify

The program does not accept companies that have IPO’d or been acquired, educational institutions, government entities, nonprofits, personal blogs or content, dev shops, consultancies or agencies, cryptocurrency mining companies, or companies distributing tokens contrary to regulatory guidance in their jurisdiction.

Acceptance into the program is at the discretion of Google Cloud and may also be determined by company age, stage, past or present Google Cloud credit usage, and type of funding.

How google cloud decides credit amounts

Google Cloud assesses startups based on funding stage, funding type, business model, founder experience, and product usage. Additional factors include company vertical, age, and growth trajectory.

Non-venture funding such as private equity, bank loans, government grants, crowdfunding, or friends and family funding does not qualify for the Scale tier but may be evaluated for other tiers.

Step by step

  1. 1

    How to apply

Go to the Google for Startups Cloud Program application page. Fill out the application form with your startup details, including your billing account ID, business email, and active business website. Ensure your email domain matches your startup website domain. Submit the form and wait for a response, which typically takes 5-7 days.

If rejected, review the response email for next steps. Some rejections may require fixing account settings or identity records. Others may redirect you to other Google Cloud programs like the $300 Free Trial or AI Studio. If rejected due to funding thresholds, reapply in the future as you grow.

  3. 3

Frequently asked questions

What are the program tiers?
The program has two tiers: Start ($2,000 in credits) for startups founded in the past 24 months with a working MVP, and Scale ($200,000 to $350,000 in credits) for VC-funded startups with Pre-Seed to Series A funding.
Can I apply if my startup is in stealth mode?
Stealth startups are supported if they have verifiable funding. Unfunded stealth startups should wait until their product launches and a working website is available.
What email should I use to apply?
Use a business email that matches your startup website domain. If needed, create a matching email with Google Workspace or Google Cloud Identity.
How long does it take to get a response?
Most applications receive a response within 5-7 days. Applications with missing information may take 10 days or more.
Can credits be used for Google Workspace or Google Maps?
No. Program credits apply only to Google Cloud Platform services billed on a pay-as-you-go basis. Google Workspace and Google Maps benefits are issued separately.
Can I reapply if I participated before but didn’t use credits?
Yes, if you meet current eligibility requirements and did not use previous credits. Program qualifications change annually, so re-enrollment is not guaranteed.
